Celebrating Trail Builders, Advocates & Community Champions

Take Care of Your Trails 2025: Celebrating the Heroes Behind the Ride

The Take Care of Your Trails (TCoYT) campaign returns in 2025 with renewed energy, fresh inspiration, and a powerful message: mountain biking wouldn’t exist without the dedicated trail crews, advocates, and volunteers who care for our trails. This year’s campaign shines a spotlight on the people behind the scenes—those who dig, build, maintain, and advocate for our shared outdoor spaces—by announcing a series of prestigious awards supported by some of the biggest names in the MTB industry.

Organized by IMBA Europe, TCoYT is more than a cleanup campaign—it’s a movement for empowerment, community, and stewardship. Every year, mountain bikers across Europe and beyond take time in May to give back to their trails, recruit new volunteers, and grow the bonds that make the MTB community so unique.

2025 Award Categories & Prizes Announced!

Outstanding Local Trail Crew
Supported by Specialized
This award honors the trail association or crew that makes the biggest impact during the month of May. From mobilizing the most volunteers to engaging with the community and being inclusive in recruitment, this crew lives and breathes trail love.
Prize: A brand new Specialized Levo G3—a premium reward for premium trail impact.

Trail Advocate of the Year (Male & Female)
Presented by Trail Tool Shapers, WTB, and EVOC
For those individuals who pour heart, soul, and sweat into their local trails. This award honors two inspiring trail champions—one man and one woman—nominated by their community.

Youth Advocate of the Year (Under 25)
Supported by GHOST Bikes
The future of mountain biking lies in the hands of its young stewards. This award goes to an exceptional youth advocate who’s already making waves in the trail world.

Making mountain biking more welcoming, this award recognizes the best pilot project idea to improve trail accessibility. Whether it’s a beginner loop, adaptive-friendly design, or reimagined trailhead, this is about lowering the barrier to entry.
Prize: A microgrant from Shimano to bring the project to life.

Why It Matters

TCoYT is a powerful reminder that mountain biking isn’t just about trails—it’s about people. It’s about fostering inclusivity, educating the next generation, and ensuring that our natural spaces are respected and preserved. From local crews to passionate individuals, this campaign celebrates those who take responsibility and lead by example.

“As mountain bikers, we’re all trail users—but TCoYT asks us to become trail caretakers,” says Loren Rowney, campaign manager from IMBA Europe. “This is our chance to give back, recognize those making a difference, and inspire the entire MTB community to act with purpose and passion.”
