Europe’s leading mountain biking organisation is looking for a new President

Open call for candidates who combine leadership and governance experience with a passion to bring the benefits of mountain-biking to millions of Europeans.

The International Mountain Bicycling Association Europe (IMBA EU) has published an open call for candidates to succeed its current President Thomas Larsen-Schmidt, who reaches the end of his mandate this year.

IMBA EU is a non-profit federation representing national mountain biking associations at the European level, running influential projects and advocacy campaigns to defend access to the countryside across Europe and strengthen the impact and professionalisation of the sector. The annual IMBA EU Summit has become one of the main gathering points for stakeholders from around the world whole who are working to improve trail quality, investment and access which will enable more people to ride well managed trails and grow the sector. IMBA EU works in partnership with other IMBA associations globally to share best practices and common goals.

IMBA EU is looking for an ambitious candidate to come forward who can steer the board of the organisation and its overall strategy. We are looking for a candidate who is excited by the prospect of mountain biking for millions more Europeans, with resulting enjoyment, health and economic benefits.

Suitable candidates will have a personal commitment to the sustainability and accessibility of mountain biking for all together with proven governance and management experience ideally in a non-profit, advocacy, sport, business or outdoor recreation context. Service on a similar board at national or regional level will be very useful.

The role of IMBA EU President is a voluntary role steering the governance and strategies of the organisation through chairing the board, overseeing the work of staff and representing our community to our networks and stakeholders.

Outgoing President Thomas Larsen Schmidt said “Being President of IMBA Europe has been one of the most rewarding periods of my career. Working with passionate communities and my highly engaged board colleagues has been motivational and educational for me, while allowing me to make a contribution to mountain biking that reaches far beyond what any one individual can do. I am excited by the opportunity to welcome a new President this year and help him or her to bring their own skills and personality to build an even more impactful IMBA community going forward. ”

Interested candidates are invited to send in an expression of interest for the position before 11th July, details can be found in an information pack here
