Expectations Surpassed: Highlights from the 2nd German Trailbuilder Days

After the successful debut in Treuchtlingen in 2024, expectations were high – but the 2nd German Trailbuilder Days in Miltenberg went above and beyond. More participants, an impressive venue, top-notch speakers, and a group ride under perfect skies: the feedback was unanimous – it was worth attending.

The event also reaffirmed DIMB’s role in providing the trail-building community in Germany with the platform it truly deserves. Networking and Knowledge Sharing at the Core Once again, the main goal was to foster professional exchange and networking among trail builders, commercial companies, and MTB-Clubs. Friday evening kicked things off with three storytelling sessions: a glimpse into a trail-building camp in Home of Trails – Graubünden, a personal account from a female trail builder, and the rapid development of the DIMB Himmelsleiter Trails near Cologne. The evening continued with lively discussions, laughter, and plenty of new connections well into the night.

Inspiring Talks and Engaging Debates – Saturday featured practical, hands-on presentations covering topics such as Miltenberg’s trails, collaboration between MTBCommunities and planning agencies, and safety in trail construction. Each session allowed ample time for questions and direct interaction with the speakers.

The afternoon focused on the upkeep of MTB-Club-managed trails. Reports from MTB-Freiburg e.V., Heumöderntrails e.V. in Treuchtlingen, and DIMB Würmtal Trails near Munich highlighted current challenges. Preliminary results from a new DIMB survey revealed the immense volunteer effort and resources invested in maintaining existing trails. The discussion made one thing clear: long-term sustainability will only be possible if public authorities step up their support.

Hands-On Tools and Late-Night Exchanges SHW-Fire and Doerte Tools showcased high-quality equipment for on-site testing. The evening concluded with an interactive spotlight on participants’ trail projects – followed by more hours of passionate conversation. Guided Rides to Wrap Things Up Sunday was all about shared experiences. TV Miltenberg led two guided tours across local trails, where builders explained the unique features and challenges of their work. Under brilliant sunshine, the dedication behind Miltenberg’s trails was evident – and we got to experience it firsthand on our bikes.

Main Takeaway:

Pure Community Spirit – and a Taste for More The 2nd German Trailbuilder Days were a resounding success, defined by authentic community and the spirit of #moretrailsclosetohome. Many participants expressed their desire for a sequel, and DIMB is already planning for 2026. Because: We are Mountainbike. Special thanks to the City of Miltenberg and Tourism Miltenberg for their outstanding support, as well as TV Miltenberg and Faust Brewery
