IMBA EU puts mountain biking on the agenda of the EUROPARC Conference Program
9 August 2016

IMBA Europe is pleased to host a side meeting about managing mountain biking in Parks and protected areas at the EUROPARC Conference 2016 in Switzerland. The Conference is entitled We are Parks! What role do the people play in the creation and management of a park? What challenges is the Swiss system confronted with? What aspects are relevant to other countries? The EUROPARC Conference 2016 is organised by the Parc Jura Vaudois, and will bring together 400 delegates from 36 European countries. ‘We’re excited to be part of this Conference and put mountain biking on the radar of many park managers in Europe. After inviting EUROPARC Federation to speak at IMBA Europe’s annual Summit in Schweinfurt last April, this seems a logical and important step towards a stronger collaboration between the mountain bike community and environmental organisations,’ said IMBA Europe director Mark Torsius. ‘The 2016 theme We are Parks highlights the importance of people and communities participating in the governance of parks and protected areas. This theme fits well with IMBA’s mission to encourage low-impact riding, volunteer trail work participation and cooperation among different trail user groups and land managers’.From 18 to 22 October 2016, delegates from all over Europe meet in the Vallée de Joux for an exciting program exploring the role of the people in our parks: keynote speakers, tutorials, workshops and many opportunities to network and share experiences with the largest gathering of parks professionals in Europe.
