Traveling by Train
Traveling to the IMBA Europe Meet-Up by train is a comfortable and sustainable alternative to flying. Sebnitz is connected to the German and Czech rail networks via Dresden, Bad Schandau, and Děčín, making it easy to reach from across Europe.
Sleeper train options
Several overnight train services make it possible to arrive well-rested and continue by regional train to Sebnitz:
- Belgium & the Netherlands: The European Sleeper runs overnight from Brussels, Antwerp, Rotterdam, The Hague, and Amsterdam directly to Dresden, Bad Schandau, and Prague three nights per week. This is one of the easiest and most sustainable ways to reach the event.
- France: Travellers from Paris can either take the new overnight European Sleeper service to Berlin, or connect via Brussels onto the Brussels–Prague European Sleeper. From Berlin, Dresden or Prague, regular daytime trains continue towards Sebnitz.
- Italy: There is currently no direct sleeper train from Italy to Sebnitz. However, overnight services from cities such as Venice, Milan, and Rome connect to Munich, Vienna, or Zurich, from where fast daytime trains continue to Dresden or Prague before the final regional connection to Sebnitz.
For participants travelling from elsewhere in Europe, Berlin, Dresden, and Prague are excellent rail hubs with frequent onward connections to Sebnitz. If you’re travelling with an Interrail or Eurail pass, most of these routes are covered, although sleeper services require an additional reservation.
