IMBA Italia Gathering 2025: 10 Years of Trails, Community, and Vision

On October 25–26, 2025, the IMBA Italia community gathered at the beautiful Castello di Miradolo, nestled in the Pinerolese hills of Piedmont, to celebrate the fifth edition of the IMBA Gathering — an event that also marked the 10th anniversary of IMBA Italia.

This milestone edition brought together nearly 100 participants from over 10 Italian regions, including local authorities, tourism operators, MTB advocates, trail builders, and outdoor professionals. From Potenza to Udine, from Rome to Trieste, voices from across the country came together to share insights, discuss challenges, and build a common vision for the future of mountain biking and cycling tourism in Italy.

The main theme of this year’s Gathering -“Cycling tourism on natural trails as a catalyst for local economic development” — was explored through a dynamic and open conference session, blending institutional and technical talks with real-world experiences and panel discussions.

The diversity of perspectives — from DMO professionals to environmental agencies, local governments, NGOs and event organizers — allowed for a truly grounded and constructive exchange focused on the Italian context. Concrete case studies, honest conversations, and practical tools took centre stage.

As always, the IMBA Italia Gathering was more than just a series of talks. The weekend offered moments of learning and connection, both on and off the trail. Sunday was fully dedicated to the field: a guided MTB ride through the Pinerolese trail network, hands-on sessions with the ITRS rating system with the chance for participants to test the ITRS trail rating app. Networking, local food, garden walks, and informal exchanges made the event rich and memorable for everyone involved.

What they said:

“We’re truly grateful for the incredible energy at this year’s Gathering. Nearly 100 attendees, powerful ideas, and a real will to collaborate. This edition was also a way to honor our roots while opening new doors for IMBA Italia’s next decade.” – Edoardo Melchiori, President, IMBA Italia

“Hosting the Gathering’s 10th anniversary was a true pleasure. The Castello di Miradolo came alive with passionate conversations and people from all over Italy. It shows the value of working together and investing in meaningful events like this.” – Marcella Gaspardone, Turismo Torino e Provincia

IMBA Italia extends a heartfelt thanks to Turismo Torino e Provincia, the Municipality of San Secondo di Pinerolo, the Unione Montana del Pinerolese, the Castello di Miradolo, and all speakers, partners, and participants who helped make this event so special.
