Knowledge exchange DIRTT project & NorthWest Arkansas Community College

European partners of the DIRTT project will visit the NorthWest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville as part of a knowledge exchange in the field of trail building education.

NWACC currently develops a Trail Technician Program while the DIRTT project has its focus on creating an educational & certification framework in the domain of trail development, construction, and management.

Although there are contextual differences between the recreational trails sector in the US and Europe, sharing different insights, best practices and training methods is seen as very valuable.

Part of the exchange program will focus on fostering collaboration in curriculum development and to align and enhance various programs’ educational content by aligning assignments and assessments, to reinforce and elevate industry standards. The exchange program takes place in the 2nd week of April and will finish with a ‘Trails from the Trails’ event, featuring trail innovators from around the world. This aims to inspire participants, showcase global trail initiatives, and encourage the adoption of innovative practices in European and American trail building and education.

The DIRTT project consortium is currently working on a mid-term dissemination event for European professional in the trail building sector, as an extension of the IMBA Europe Summit in Mödling, Vienna Woods, from 22-24 May 2024.
