IMBA Europe is proud to support the launch of the European Trails Policy Paper – Trails as Strategic European Infrastructure, a landmark document calling for greater recognition of trails as essential infrastructure that delivers environmental, social and economic benefits across Europe.
As one of the organizations that helped drive this initiative, IMBA Europe worked alongside European Trails, EUROPARC Federation, the European Network of Outdoor Sports (ENOS), the European Ramblers’ Association (ERA) and other partners to develop a shared vision for the future of Europe’s trail networks.
The policy paper highlights the vital role trails play in connecting people with nature, supporting sustainable tourism and active mobility, improving public health, strengthening rural communities and protecting biodiversity. It calls on European and national policymakers to recognize, support and invest in sustainable trail development and management.
The publication marks an important step towards ensuring Europe’s trails receive the strategic recognition and long-term investment they deserve.
