Abstract

Trail biking is a popular outdoor activity. The Outdoor Report (Report to the Storting 18 (2015-2016)) proposes to remove restrictions on cycling in some protected areas, and in the Government’s action plan for outdoor life from 2018, it is a stated goal to revise the protection regulations for national parks and landscape conservation areas by 2020, so it becomes more legal to cycle within these areas. At the same time, the administrative authorities must be able to regulate cycling if it may conflict with the protection purpose. Therefore, more knowledge is needed about the relationship between cycling and conservation values.
