Representation matters-and at events like the IMBA Europe Summit, creating space for women+ in mountain biking is more than just a goal; it’s a necessity.
In 2024, SRAM partnered with IMBA Europe to help break down barriers to participation by offering 10 free tickets to women+ attending the Summit in Vienna. The result? A tangible shift: for two of the three days, women+ made up over 30% of attendees-nearly double the previous year’s numbers.
Building on that momentum, SRAM and IMBA Europe are proud to continue this effort in 2025 by supporting 10 women+ to attend the Summit in Boltaña, Spain, including a free summit ticket and four nights of accommodation in the heart of town.
To be eligible, applicants must identify as a woman+ and be actively working or volunteering in the mountain biking sector.
Why this matters
IMBA Europe and SRAM firmly believe that women+ bring essential perspectives, ideas, and energy to the mountain biking community-and we want to learn from, listen to, and work alongside more women+. This initiative is about more than inclusion-it’s about making sure that the voices of women+ are heard, seen, and valued in shaping the future of mountain biking.
Despite strides in inclusivity, many women+ in the mountain biking sector still struggle to feel legitimate, respected, and accepted. Challenges like unequal pay, lack of visible role models, and the marginalisation of women+ focused topics persist. At the 2024 Summit, the first-ever women+ only workshop created space for these experiences to be shared and began laying the foundation for the Women+ in Mountain Biking Network.
Participants expressed a clear desire for more meaningful representation-not just in ‘women+ events’, but in leadership roles, advocacy, and decision-making across the industry. It’s a shared responsibility, and initiatives like this are a step toward real structural change.
As one attendee put it, “You can’t be what you can’t see.”
Building a stronger future together
SRAM’s support isn’t just about tickets and travel-it’s about opportunity, recognition, and change. With more women+ attending events like the IMBA Europe Summit, the conversations shift, and the community grows stronger and more representative of everyone involved.
We invite you to be part of it.
