Mountain biking is an excellent form of recreational exercise that contributes to better mental and physical health for people of all ages. Communities that offer high quality trail experiences are appreciated by enthusiasts of all kinds of outdoor recreation. Despite this, across Europe mountain bike trail riding opportunities are threatened by poor access, restrictive legislation and conflicts with other stakeholders. At IMBA Europe we want to support our member organisations in their struggles to provide riding experiences for mountain bikers of all skill levels, and intend to use this map to track cases where the mountain bike community is in particular need of our attention.

At the same time we want to showcase positive examples of progressive policies and developments that can set examples for other communities across the continent. Use this map to learn about the challenges mountain bike communities face and news worth celebrating.
